La Chouette Chanceuse

idea-obscura:

2011 was an amazing year for me. I moved to a new place, I got into the school of my dreams, and I’ve changed into (what I’d like to think of) a better person than I used to be. So this quote speaks a lot to past experiences, acknowledging where they’ve taken me, and welcoming a new year that’s bound to have even more amazing experiences in store.

Which brings me to this: remember how i told you that i was working on a top secret project for the new year? Well here it is! A printable postcard for the year 2012 just for you :D

I’ve always wanted to try out hand-lettering, so I thought this new year’s project of mine would be a great opportunity to try out something I’ve never done before. Iit’s very amateur, spencerian script-esque type, but I kinda like how it came out and I hope you like it too.

I also know that the digital era’s made everything so much more expedient, but in our consistently busy lives it means so much to someone when they see that you actually took the time just for them. So I encourage you to spread positivity around the good ol’ traditional way! Write something meaningful on these and send them to the people you love.

Happy New Year, you guys. (download here)

Cherish your solitude. Take trains by yourself to places you have never been. Sleep out alone under the stars. Learn how to drive a stick shift. Go so far away that you stop being afraid of not coming back. Say no when you don’t want to do something. Say yes if your instincts are strong, even if everyone around you disagrees. Decide whether you want to be liked or admired. Decide if fitting in is more important than finding out what you’re doing here.
